This week I welcomed A Level student, Ben Sim, to Westminster to see what life is like as a Member of Parliament. Ben, who is currently studying Politics at Ysgol Maes Garmon, shadowed me in many debates and drop ins, and got to witness first-hand how Parliament operates.
I wish Ben all the best in his A levels, and hope he has enjoyed the experience and to see how Parliament operates. He has worked hard and helped in many aspects.
It is important to get people down from Delyn to witness how Parliament is run, and the work we do to get the best for our constituents. If anyone else would like the chance to see how an MP’s office works please do contact me.
Ben Sim said “I would like to thank David for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. It was fascinating to watch the day to day running in a busy MP’s Westminster Office.”
“One of the highlights of the week was being able to witness a live question time in the House of Commons, being an avid follower of Prime Minister’s questions and question time it was a very enjoyable experience.”
“It was an honour to be able to support David in his role and sit in on a Westminster Hall debate on Christian persecution and the benefit cap. A matter that I feel is becoming ever so important. I was also able to visit various drop in sessions and meetings such as re-establishing the All-party group on Blood Cancer, Musicians after Brexit and having the honour of holding the FA Cup, and as an Everton fan that doesn’t happen often!
“This has been an experience I will never forget.”
