The Secretary of State delivered a statement to the Commons outlining how the UK Government was going to change the UK railways. From the way the private companies interact with the publicly owned rail maintenance body, to reopening of lines closed by the Beeching review.
I used this opportunity to press the minister on the progress of the North Wales Growth Deal – which we are repeatedly promised but have yet to see – and what steps the UK Government is taking to ensure that the North Wales Metro is given funding and support. We need a decent railway to link North Wales with North West England. If this government drags its heels again it will damage our local economy.
