I have welcomed the news that charities and community groups in Delyn have received £53,692 in 2017 from The People’s Postcode Lottery.

People who play The People’s Postcode Lottery are funding The People’s Postcode Trust, the Postcode Community Trust and the Postcode Local Trust.

The People’s Postcode Trust has awarded more than £15 million to over 2,000 projects across Great Britain. People’s Postcode Trust supports projects which focus on the prevention of poverty, promotion of human rights and equal rights.

The Postcode Community Trust was established in 2014 and so far has awarded more than £8.5 million of funding to over 1,000 projects. Postcode Community Trust focuses on projects which improve health and well-being through grass-roots sports, arts and well-being programmes.

The Postcode Local Trust was established in 2015 and has awarded more than £6.5 million to over 700 projects across Great Britain. Postcode Local Trust funds projects supporting outdoor spaces, local environment and wildlife.

All three of these funding streams are open to applications between 1 August – 15 August. Applicants can apply for funding between £500-£20,000 but only registered charities can apply for funds over £2,000.

Those wishing for a supporting statement should contact me.

The People’s Postcode Lottery is played by many people in Delyn and it is good to see that over £50,000 of funding has come back to our communities. This money will be spent on a variety of different causes ranging from refurbishing community centres, supporting charitable organisations or improving public spaces.

But I want to see more funding awarded to Delyn going forward. That is why I want to raise awareness of the three funding streams available for community groups and charities in Delyn. The next round of funding doesn’t open until 1 August but I want as many people to know about this as possible.

I would be more than happy to write a supporting letter for all causes that will benefit our communities. So do not hesitate to get in contact with me or my office.
