Delyn MP David Hanson and Wrexham MP and Business Minister Ian Lucas have paid tribute Flintshire based company Excelsyn, which has received the the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2009.
The North Wales MPs paid the tribute during a visit Excelsyn’s facility in Holywell.
Pharma and biotech manufacturing services group Excelsyn has won the award, in the International Trade category, in recognition of a near-trebling of the company’s export earnings, with overseas business now accounting for 82% of sales.
Excelsyn’s facility in Holywell makes pharmaceutical ingredients and advanced
intermediates – and provides process chemical development and manufacturing services for both the global health and personal care industry sectors.
Major customers across Asia, Europe and North America include the majority of the world’s leading big pharma companies, while it has collaborations and partnerships in the expanding markets of China and India.
David Hanson said:
“It is very pleasing to see a Flintshire based company gain recognition in this way. Despite the tough economic climate, Excelsyn continues to grow and credit must go to the highly skilled and innovative staff at the site for their hard-work and dedication.
“This success shows that North Wales remains an excellent place to do business and I will continue to support local companies in every way I can.
Ian Lucas said:
“Excelsyn is a truly world-class company, providing excellent jobs and leading in its field. It was a real pleasure to visit a company whose success as an exporter is an example to other Welsh companies.”
