A new Arts and Handicrafts Club which is proving to be a great success has received a grant of nearly £3,000 from the Lotteries “Awards for All Wales” programme.
The grant means that the club covering Mostyn and District can expand an already wide-ranging programme of activities to include an accredited Flower Arranging Course, a series of taster courses and two one day pottery making workshops.
Local Assembly Member Sandy Mewies and David Hanson MP joined the Club Chairman Bill Ross and committee members to celebrate both the grant and the success of the club at Maes Pennant Community Centre.
Mr Ross said the club was very pleased to receive the grant: “it is an exciting opportunity for local people to take part in a whole range of activities”.
Welcoming the news, Sandy Mewies said:
“This is a thriving club going from strength to strength and offering a wide range of activities to local people. The Club works in partnership with Communities First and Flintshire Local Voluntary Council and this is a fine example of the success that working together brings”.
David Hanson said:
“This is great for the whole community. Anyone aged between 18 and 80 plus can join in the activities and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, biscuit and chat at the same time.”
Other courses planned by the club include Christmas Sugar Craft and card making.
