Delyn MP David Hanson has again reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to support local jobs and get those that have become unemployed, back into work as quickly as possible.
The Government will continue to provide help, support and investment to get people back into work. ONS figures today show that unemployment is rising at a slower rate, following the extra help the Government has brought in. The Government isdetermined to keep up investment levels during the recession so Britain’s economy returns to growth more quickly and as many jobs as possible are saved.
The number of people on Jobseeker’s Allowance has gone up by 24,400 to 1.607 million. Around 70% of claimants are leaving Jobseeker’s Allowance within 6 months. The number of people who are ILO unemployed has risen by 210,000 on the quarter to July 2009, which is 20,000 less than the increase in the previous quarter.
The Government has also announced a further 7,500 new jobs for young people and the long term unemployed from the Future Jobs Fund which will ultimately create 150, 000 jobs across the country.
David Hanson said:
“This is clearly still a very difficult time for a number of families in Delyn and there are still challenges ahead. However, I support the Government’s £5 billion extra investment to help people get back into work quickly. This money is paying for more jobcentreplus staff and more opportunities for people of every age. It is real help now, right when people need it.
“The Government’s Future Jobs Fund – £1 billion targeted investment to make sure every young person is guaranteed a job not abandoned– will mean thousands of jobs across every part of the country.”
