Delyn MP David Hanson has teamed up with Age Concern North East Wales to raise awareness of the importance of keeping staple foods in your house in case the weather prevents people from getting to the shops.
The campaign is urging pensioners to ensure that they keep a stock of food from each of the five main food groups. These include bread and cereals; fresh fruit and vegetables; milk and dairy foods; meat, eggs and pulses; and foods containing fat and sugar.
In order to raise awareness of this issue, Age Concern North East Wales gave away a free healthy Christmas hamper to one winner.
David Hanson said:
“We have already had our fair share of mixed weather in Flintshire over the last few weeks and I just want to ensure that older people have everything they need in case the weather makes going down the shops difficult.”
