I am urging teachers in Delyn to apply for free training provided by the UK Parliament Education Service on the 2-4 July 2018.
As part of the UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme the Education Service will be hosting a residential Teachers’ Institute. Teachers will experience Parliament first hand, and then return to their schools to support understanding of, and increase engagement with, Parliament.
Transport and accommodation costs are covered and applications are welcome from teachers, school leaders and teacher training providers working with young people aged 5-18.
The course includes:
• Q&A session with MPs and Peers
• Talks from subject specialists
• Workshops devoted to key aspects of the work of Parliament
• Opportunities to explore new and exciting teaching ideas
• Tour of the Palace of Westminster
Application forms are available at UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme and the closing date is Sunday 8 April 2018. You can also contact David Carr, Education and Engagement Service coordinator, on 0207 219 3436.
Ensuring Parliament is open to all is vitally important. But we also need to ensure that our teaching professionals have access to resources and knowledge that will help them bring politics to life. That is why I am keen that as many teachers in Delyn apply for this scheme being run by the UK Parliament.
Not only are accommodation and transport costs covered by Parliament, but it will ensure that you have a fantastic experience in the Palace of Westminster meeting other subject specialists and teachers who are driving for the best education for their students.
I know that Delyn teachers, teaching assistants and school leaders are determined to deliver the best education for our children. I cannot think of a better way for them to be given the resources they need to do just this than this programme.
