Today, I visited Tesco in Holywell to help collect food for Flintshire Foodbank.
Foodbanks provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. Flintshire Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Flintshire Foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area.
Tesco in Holywell has been collecting food yesterday, today and tomorrow and have promised to top up peoples donations by 30%. This food will then be delivered to Flintshire Foodbank and distributed to the most vulnerable families in our community.
I would like to thank Tesco staff for helping collect the desperately needed food over the past couple of days. Because of the promise to top up our donations to the foodbanks by Tesco’s I am urging as many of you who can afford to donate food to do so.
It is incredibly sad that we need foodbanks in Flintshire. I want us to come together as a community to show that we won’t stand by whilst families are going hungry.
