Delyn MP David Hanson has welcomed the news that the Post Office is to retain and invest in Holywell Post Office as part of the organisation’s on going modernisation programme after a number of months of uncertainty over its future.
Mr Hanson was responding to the news that despite work to explore the possibility of franchising the site to run it in partnership with a suitable retail partner the Post Office have now decided to secure the long-term viability of the branch by running it as a Post Office branch.
Several private partners had previously expressed interest in the site but no deal was able to be done. The news that the Post Office will continue to invest in and modernise the site guarantees the postal services in the town for some time to come.
David Hanson MP said:
“Post Offices provide vital services for local people and businesses every day so it’s really good news that a solution has been found for the future of the Holywell branch. At the time of the franchising proposal concern was raised- I hope now we can bulid on this for the future of the town
The staff of the branch have worked hard to keep providing a good service throughout the period of uncertainty so I’m pleased they can also have more security now. I look forward to seeing the modernisation and investment plans in due course and hope it can be a thriving and successful Post Office for some time.”
