A brand new play area for Gronant CP School, developed and built by local businesses will be opened on Friday the 23rd of May at 2pm by Delyn MP David Hanson.
On Friday Mr Hanson will officially open the new play area, which was developed by Councillor Tony Chilton with considerable contributions and finance from a wide range of local parties.
The play area has been diversely designed to provide a rounded play experience including social play, physical development through balancing and carefully integrated risk and challenge, intellectual stimulation, creative play and environmental awareness. The prospect of such an initiative was first muted by a member of Gronant CP School staff and subsequently agreed by Governors, staff and a PTA meeting.
Local businesses including Hughes Grey Building Supplies, Talacre Beach Holiday Park, Presthaven Sands Holiday Park, Flintshire County Council Play Development Unit, North East Wales Community Play project have all contributed to the development of the play area covering the purchase and supply of equipment and materials. Labour for the installation, and the design of the area was provided by Councillor Tony Chilton with some physical assistance from the Gronant Play Project.
David Hanson MP said:
“Safe and secure play areas are vital for children’s development, so I’m really pleased to see how the community has come together to supply funding and materials for this fantastic new site. I congratulate Councillor Tony Chilton and everyone else involved for getting this idea off the ground and into reality, and I hope the kids can enjoy all aspects of the playground.”
