“I have been very proud to represent Delyn since 1992.
I live in the constituency as well as maintaing a full-time constituency office and holding regular advice surgeries across the constituency.
From the general election of 2001 until the 2005 election, I was Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, Tony Blair. This position was an honour not just for me, but also for the whole of Delyn. I was the link between the Prime Minister and other MPs and kept him in touch with opinions within Parliament.
Between 2005-2010 I was Minister of State at Northern Ireland, the Ministry of Justice and the Home Office. I was Shadow Exchequer Secretary in 2010 and Shdow Policing Minister in 2011 and Shadow Minister for Immigration until 2016. I am now a member of the Speaker’s Panel of Chairs which sees me chairing legislation and debates when the Speaker cannot.
The needs of my constituents are my first priority.”
