Yesterday, I welcomed Ysgol Rhos Helyg to the Houses of Parliament. 29 Year 6 students spent the day experiencing and learning about how politics works in the UK.
They had a guided tour of the House of Lords, followed by a day in the brand new Education Centre. A purpose built facility that uses interactive experiences, and educational tools to teach children about democracy, past and present, in Britain.
It is always a pleasure to welcome local schools to the mother of all parliaments. They asked great questions and helped me send out a tweet to my constituents about their visit. First time I’ve ever used an emoji as well!
The new Education Centre is excellent. The staff who provide the learning activities are second to none. I encourage schools to get in touch to arrange a visit to Parliament. It is your parliament and we must ensure it remains open for people to experience it in all its wonder.
