Delyn MP David Hanson today backed measures in the Pre-Budget Report to give important support to pensioners and housholds in Delyn.
David Hanson said:
“I am pleased to see that the Support for Mortgage Interest Scheme has been extended, this is an important part of the Government’s package and is currently assisting 13,800 households in Wales.”
Responding to measures introduced to assist pensioners in Delyn, David Hanson added:
“The news that the full basic state Pension will increase by £2.70 to £97.65 per week, and for a couple it will rise by £3.45 to £156.15 a week – benefiting 600,000 pensioners in Wales is very welcome.
“Additional Payment alongside this year’s Winter Fuel Payment, worth £100 for households with someone over 80, £50 for households with someone over 60 – will benefit around 15,500 households in Delyn and 480,000 across Wales.
“The UK Government continues to invest in Wales and the Wales budget next year will be £15 and a half billion, more than double what it was in 1999.
“Announcements made in today’s PBR will deliver an extra £13 million to Wales in Barnett consequentials. This investment will help to grow the economy in Flintshire.”
