Points of Order: English Votes for English Laws (EVEL)

As Urgent Questions finished today I raised a Point of Order with Mr Speaker on English Votes for English Laws (EVEL). In the Commons today there is an Opposition Day debate on the recent regulations to scrap maintenance grants for English students in Higher Education.

However, Mr Speaker deemed this to be an item that was not applicable to MPs who represent devolved regions. I questioned Mr Speaker on the lack of information given to MPs, and how we will be able to influence the decision of the Speaker to make EVIL applicable to a Bill or motion.

EVEL is making MPs second class citizen in Parliament. Making it harder for me to represent the views and opinions of my constituents. We have many people in Delyn who work and use services in England and they are having their voice removed from Parliament. This is wrong and diminishes our Parliament.
