Offensive Weapons Bill: Air Weapon amendment

The Offensive Weapons Bill returned to the Commons for Report Stage this week and it gave me the opportunity to press for greater safety measures for air weapons.

A tragic event happened in North Wales to one of my constituents when an air weapon was obtained by children and it resulted in the death of a child. I put forward amendments to the Bill calling for all air weapons to be locked away in a cabinet and for them to be fitted with trigger locks.

It is important that we provide extra protections for young and vulnerable people who could accidentally obtain an air weapon.
