Delyn MP David Hanson has welcomed the award of a lottery grant to the website ‘WW1 in Flintshire’ as part of a series of events remembering the First World War.
Mr Hanson joined in the welcome for the grant for the project that seeks to gather and tell the stories of those named on the memorial, as well as others across Flintshire.
The project run by Eifion and Viv Williams, received lottery funding of £10000 to help explore the history of the First World War in the area. There is still funding available for projects seeking to examine and engage with the area’s history with the First World War.
David Hanson MP said:
“No one should forget the sacrifice many men and women from Flintshire gave for our country, so I’m pleased to be able to welcome the funding for the project which will help uncover the real people behind the names on our memorials.
We should continue to honour and respect our war dead and I think this project will be an important and valuable part of this.”
