Hanson Welcomes Vauxhall Investment

Delyn MP David Hanson has welcomed the news that Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port plant has been given the green light to produce its new Astra.

As part of its review, General Motors were looking into the long-term viability of the plant. However, this morning they have announced that the 2,100 jobs are safe and that hundreds more will be created as a result of this decision.

David Hanson said:

“This decision is great news for manufacturing in the North West of England and North Wales, where a large part of the Ellesmere Port workforce are based.

“I know that MPs across our region have taken the arguments for the retention, and indeed expansion of the plant, to Government Ministers in recent weeks, and to their credit the Government has listened.

“The credit today ultimately goes to the hard-working and highly-skilled workforce at Ellesmere Port.”
