Delyn MP David Hanson is urging local charities take full advantage ofJustTextGiving by Vodafone which was launched this week.
Charities and individuals can now raise money using text messages with a service that is free to set up and run, with every penny donated going to charity.
Eighty-nine percent of adults carry a mobile, so there is a great opportunity to open up a new era of charitable giving using text donations. This programme is available to registered charities, large and small.
David Hanson said:
“This new scheme provides charities of all sizes in Flintshire with an easy and flexible way to increase donations. I would encourage charities to visitwww.justtextgiving.co.uk or ring my office on 01352 763159 for more details.”
- JustTextGiving by Vodafone enables charities to personalise their own unique 6-digit text code – called a VIC or Vodafone Individual Code – and receive donations of up to £10 per message by text. There are no set-up or running costs for the charity and no network charge for supporters. Gift Aid can also be claimed on each donation. Registered charities can set up their codes from 9 May and individual fundraisers from 20 June. Vodafone is also offering a free marketing support pack for charities to help them to promote their new code.
- Until now, mobile fundraising has been only used by large charities for occasional campaigns due to the substantial set-up costs involved. Up until the launch of JustTextGiving, 72% of charities were not using text fundraising, citing expense as a key barrier. But now registered charities can use a simple text message to fundraise – it takes just three steps to get going. Full details are available atwww.justtextgiving.co.uk or by calling 0800 0521 081.
