Delyn MP David Hanson will hold an award ceremony for all the women that have been awarded the Women’s Land Army and Women’s Timber Corps. The local MP is also inviting all those women that may have applied for the badge directly.
Last December it was announced that former members of the Women’s Land Army and Women’s Timber Corps would be awarded with a specially designed badge of honour commemorating their efforts during the Second World War.
David Hanson said:
“Over the last few months I have received over 20 applications for the badge and I have written to all the women inviting them to an Afternoon Tea and presentation Ceremony to be held on Friday 1st August at 3pm in Flint Town Hall.
“This will be a special event in which we can pay tribute to those that gave so much to the war effort. There will be a display of memorabilia, and they will be invited to bring photographs, uniforms and other items) with them, to share memories.
“Some constituents may well have applied direct for the badge and they are more than welcome to join us at the award ceremony. If you can contact me before the 28th July to let me know that you would like to attend then I can make the necessary arrangements. Also if you have still not applied for a badge please get in touch.”
