Following the establishment of an independent audit into MPs expenses, Delyn MP David Hanson has received written confirmation from Sir Thomas Legg that there are no issues with the claims that he has made.
Sir Thomas Legg will shortly report his findings to the Members Estimates Committee – the committee that considers matters relating to MPs’ pay and allowances on behalf of the House of Commons.
David Hanson said:
“My expenses have been scrutinised thoroughly in an external audit headed by Sir Thomas Legg and I have not been asked to make any repayments.
“Sir Thomas has confirmed with me that he will report back to the Members Estimates Committee that there are no issues with the claims that I have made.
“I have been clear throughout that although I have claimed everything within the rules the system that was in place needed to be reformed in a clear and decisive way.
“The rules on expenses have now been changed and I hope all MPs will work to regain public confidence in politics.”
