Delyn MP David Hanson has hosted a Westminster business reception for Holywell-based company Kingspan. Kingspan published new research in front of the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Miliband MP, North Wales MPs and other business groups.
Flintshire-based Kingspan Insulated Panels, Europe’s largest manufacturer of insulated panels, commissioned a report from respected consultancy Caleb Management Services looking at the contribution which refurbishing existing non-domestic buildings can make to tackling climate change.
The research set out how the British construction industry can lead the way in creating a green new deal. It asserts that refurbishing existing buildings could support up to 50,000 jobs, reduce emissions and save over £700m per year in energy bills for thousands of businesses
The report also highlights opportunities for the creation or safeguarding of 118,000 long-term jobs in the construction sector.
David Hanson said:
“I was pleased to host such an interesting and well-attended event.
“Kingspan insulated panels is a world leader in its field and I have worked closely with the company, promoting its interests.
“The Secretary of State gave some very positive feedback to the report, which is a welcome contribution to the debate on how we can become more energy efficient, whilst safeguarding jobs and saving money.
“I will continue to support business in Flintshire and across our region through these very challenging economic circumstances.”
