Delyn MP David Hanson has welcomed two Big Lottery Fund awards for groups in Flintshire.
Flintshire Voluntary Council and Flintshire Disability Forum have both been awarded £5,000. Flintshire Local Voluntary Council is using the money to provide training facilities for the community whilst the Flintshire Disability Forum will use the money to enable people with disabilities to take part in social activities.
Te Big Lottery Fund is the largest distributor of Lottery money to good causes. We are responsible for giving out half the money raised by the National Lottery for good causes: 14 pence of every pound spent on a Lottery Ticket. The Big Lottery Funds gives close to £2 million in lottery good cause money every 24 hours.
David Hanson said:
“This money is very welcome and will help these local groups to continue to carry out their very valuable work in Flintshire.
“It is worth stating that there are still two programmes which are open to applications from groups. Firstly, ‘People and Places’ delivers grants of between £5000 to £1 million to all sorts of organisations and ‘Awards for All Wales’ delivers smaller grants of between £500 and £5,000 to groups across Wales.
“I would encourage local organisations to apply for funding. For more information go to www.biglotteryfund.org.uk.”
