Delyn MP David Hanson has been asked by the Leader of the Opposition, Ed Miliband MP to take up the role of Shadow Policing Minister in Labour’s new look front bench team.
David returns to the brief that he held prior to the General Election in government.
David Hanson said:
“I am really pleased to take on the Policing role again as I very much value the hard work and commitment of officers and staff across Flintshire, North Wales and the UK.
“This Government is imposing a frontloaded 20% cut on the police, resulting in the loss of over 16,000 police officers. That will mean hundreds of fewer officers on the street here in North Wales. Whilst at the same time the Government are making it harder for the police to use DNA and CCTV in preventing and detecting crime.
“In addition, we have the decision to spend over £100m on 40 police chiefs next year rather than using the cash to save 2,000 constables and invest in gang prevention programmes.
“I will continue to listen to the genuine and serious concerns from police, councils and communities and highlight just how out of touch this Government is when it comes to tackling crime.”
