Hanson Calls for Teacher of the Year Nominations

Delyn MP David Hanson is urging constituents to come forward and nominate an exceptional teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to the lives of their pupils.

For the second year, more than 3.5 million ITV regional news viewers are being invited to nominate a teacher.

Throughout July, ITV regional news programmes across England, Wales and Northern Ireland are searching for the ITV Teacher of the Year and are asking viewers to make their nominations. It could be any king of teacher – Nursery, Primary, Secondary or Specialist.

The deadline for nominations is Friday August 1st and a panel of independent judges in each region will choose the regional finalist.

The 14 regional winners will go through to the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain panel of distinguished judges, who will select the overall ITV Teacher of the Year. The winner will be announced at the Pride of Britain Awards on 1st October.

David Hanson said:

“A good teacher can be real inspiration and can help to shape your life.

“We all understand the need for a good education and a good teacher can use a host of innovative measures to engage pupils to help them to fulfil their potential.

“Theses awards are a way of recognising the fundamentally important role that teachers play in our society and I would urge people to come forward with nominations.”
