Delyn MP David Hanson is calling for new signage from the main road to make it easy for tourists to locate and access Flint’s historic Castle.
David Hanson said:
“Flint Castle has such an interesting history and the site itself is well maintained with stunning views out of the River Dee. The site has recently been cleaned up and the ‘donjon’ corner tower, which is the only one of its type in the UK, has reopened.
“I have concerns that we are not making the most out of the Castle and have been contacted by tourists who found it very difficult to find.
“I was delighted to attend the recent Viking event at the Castle, which was a great showcase for the site, but even then people there remarked to me that they had had difficulty finding it off the main road.
“I believe the Castle should be clearly marked from the main road as currently there is only a pedestrian sign which is difficult to read. We should be attracting tourists that come especially to see the Castle but also those who might pay a visit as a result of seeing the sign whilst passing through the town.
“We need to invest in signage around Flint to ensure that we promote this key attraction effectively.”
