Flintshire MPs’ David Hanson and Mark Tami have backed the Local Government Settlement for Flintshire from the Labour-led Welsh Assembly Government.
David Hanson said:
“The Local Government settlement represents a fair deal for local authorities in the context of the current financial climate.
“The package is challenging as a result of the large reduction £860 million this year in the Welsh Assembly Government’s budget imposed as a result of the Tory-led Coalition Government’s deeply unfair cuts package.”
Mark Tami said:
“The settlement reflects the Labour led Assembly Government’s priorities of protecting schools and social care which are, in the main, delivered by local authorities.
“The challenging yet relatively good settlement for local government in Wales this year is against a backdrop of a 67% increase in funding for local government between 1999 and 2011”
