Last Friday, I launched Flint RNLI’s 50th anniversary celebrations at Flint lifeboat station, and revealed the exciting news of the arrival of a new lifeboat in May.
The new lifeboat ‘The Lady Barbara’ will be partially funded by a generous £35k donation from local RNLI supporter David Sadler in memory of his late wife Barbara who sadly died in April 2015. Barbara was the energetic secretary of the Buckley Branch of the RNLI for many years.
The new lifeboat which costs £48k, will replace the current lifeboat ‘Sir Y Ffint’ which was funded through an appeal by the people of Flintshire in 2005, a new appeal for £13k is already open, those wishing to support the appeal can contact Alan Forrester on 07785593247, or send donations for the RNLI to Alan at 3 Windsor Drive, Flint, CH6 5TX.
Flint lifeboat does an excellent job on behalf of the local community, and I’m pleased to launch this appeal with the hope that local people can support the new lifeboat to help continue that excellent service.
Alan Forrester volunteer lifeboat operations manager at Flint lifeboat station said ‘we are all excited at the news, and particularly that our dear friend Barbara is being honoured in this way, she was a great supporter of the station, whether on the barbeque stall at the dog show, a steward on bonfire night, or helping us with risk assessments for various fundraising events, Barbara was always there for us, and now will continue to be so’
