Delyn MP David Hanson has teamed up with Welsh Euro MP Derek Vaughan for the North Wales launch of the European Funding Directory for Wales.
Public, private and voluntary sector organisations in Wales can apply for funding from various European programmes to co-finance their projects. Since 2007, €1.9 billion has been allocated through Structural Funds to Welsh programmes. Millions of Euros have also been given to Welsh participation in Europe-wide projects through the European Commission’s competitive funding programmes. This money makes a vital contribution to making Wales’ economy more competitive and allows Welsh organisations to create strong links with Europe.
In the current economic climate, with cuts in public spending across the EU, these funds are particularly important to allow Wales to continue to support businesses and communities to ensure that all Welsh citizens fully benefit from the EU.
Some Welsh organisations could be missing out on money that could make a huge difference to them because it is often difficult to access information on potential EU funding opportunities.
David Hanson said:
“I am pleased to be able to support this new directory and would urge all Flintshire businesses to make the most of the opportunities available to them. Copies can be obtained from my office.”
Derek Vaughan said:
“This Directory provides Welsh organisations with a practical guide to the various sources of European funding available to them, from Structural Funding to European Commission competitive programmes. It also includes tips on how to access funding programmes and links to Brussels and UK-based contacts that can assist in the application process.”
