Flintshire MP, David Hanson has strongly welcomed the news that Airbus in Flintshire is to receive an extra £48 million from central Airbus funds to build a new hi-tech production line and help secure the future of thousands of jobs.
Mr Hanson was responding to Airbus’ announcement that it will be giving the Broughton factory in Flintshire extra money to develop and upgrade the site to ensure it can continue to make improvements and develop new systems and technology with a new production line in place by July 2016.
The announcement follows news from the Welsh Government that it will be spending £8.1 million on training and upskilling of people working in Welsh aerospace to fully exploit the investment in new technology.
David Hanson MP said:
“This news is a real vote of confidence in the 6000 strong Flintshire workforce and for the future of the factory so I strongly welcome this investment and hope it can help push the site forward to even more success.
It’s a real boost to the factory and a recognition of the hard work of the workforce. It’s also good news for Flintshire and will help the local economy and hopefully help create new jobs and opportunities for people here in Flintshire.”
