Delyn MP David Hanson has welcomed today’s figures showing a fall in unemployment across Flintshire, but has warned that young people in Delyn are still falling behind with the youth unemployment rate above the UK average.
Speaking after official figures today showed a fall in unemployment, Mr Hanson welcomed the news and praised local businesses and individuals who have worked hard to create continued economic opportunities during the difficult economic period of the past four years. However, Mr Hanson also called for sustained support and work from the Westminster government to tackle the youth unemployment rate which remains higher than the UK average.
David Hanson MP for Delyn said:
“The fall in unemployment is good news and is a testament to the hard work of people and businesses across Flintshire who have endured a difficult few years but have been able to keep making opportunities for local people. However young people in my constituency are still at risk when it comes to getting a job, so we do need to see real action from the Westminster government to ensure young people can access the opportunities they need to thrive.”
