David Hanson MP for Delyn has visited Gronant Dunes in Flintshire to see first-hand the conservation work that has been completed by Groundwork North Wales thanks to funding from the SITA Trust.
Mr Hanson saw the conservation efforts which have created a new 45 metre section of boardwalk that people in future will be able to use to access the beach without damaging the vegetation.
Groundwork North Wales, Flintshire Countryside Service and Bourne Leisure came together to deliver this conservation project improving the habitat for protected sand dune species at Gronant Dunes and Talacre Warren Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The partners and volunteers have cleared invasive plant species from the dunes to build the boardwalk.
David Hanson MP said:
“I was pleased to visit this impressive project and see first hand how volunteers supported by ground work have transformed this section of the dunes into a place for the preservation of wild life and with allowing access to for visitors to see the area for tourism and recreation “
