Delyn MP David Hanson has welcomed new figures showing a fall in unemployment in Delyn, but has expressed his concern that people in Flintshire are not feeling the recovery with wages still below the cost of living.
Today’s figures showing a fall in unemployment in Delyn has been cautiously welcomed by local MP David Hanson amongst concerns that pay is still behind living costs and the impact that this is having on people in Flintshire where wages have seen the biggest fall in Wales.
David Hanson MP said:
“While I welcome the fall in unemployment in Delyn I am worried that wages are still lagging behind the cost of living. It is disappointing that the government is still not doing enough to tackle the cost of living crisis is that is hitting many people here in Flintshire hard with spiralling costs and inflation keeping wages low.
More needs to be done to help people make ends meet and to improve the quality of jobs that are on offer. A low wage recovery will not help the people of Flintshire and will not help the people of Flintshire feel the effects of a recovery.
