Delyn MP congratulates Ysgol y llan pupil on World War 1 story prize

Delyn MP David Hanson has met 9 year old Ysgol y llan pupil Sean Jones to congratulate him on his winning entry in the Flint and Holywell Rotary world war one story competition.

Mr Hanson met Sean at Whitford church to congratulate him after he won the competition run by the Flint and Holywell Rotary group to find the best story commemorating the First World War.  Sean won the competition with a story about Thomas Davies his relative who survived war.  The prize ceremony followed a service in Whitford Church in which David Hanson joined pupils from Ysgol y llan to commemorate the First World War and remember the 10 Whitford residents who died in the conflict.

David Hanson MP said:

“It was a pleasure to meet Sean and to hear about the story he wrote about his relative who was fortunate enough to survive the war.  I hope he learnt a lot about the war and the sacrifices people had to make when he was writing his story, and I congratulate him again on winning.”
