Delyn MP David Hanson has called for the government to take more action to tackle unemployment in Delyn as new figures show no fall in the number of unemployed people since 2013, and a rise in unemployment across Flintshire as a whole.
Mr Hanson was responding to new data from the Office of National Statistics which showed unemployment in Delyn has remained static since the beginning of 2014, and has now risen in Flintshire as a whole with youth unemployment suffering the worst rise with 15 more young people made unemployed in the last month.
David Hanson MP said:
“On the day that George Osborne is trying to complacently claim that his policies are bringing recovery to Britain, it’s clear that here in Flintshire things remain difficult for far too many people and we need urgent action to tackle these stubborn unemployment figures.
I think it’s time for the Government to bring in a compulsory jobs guarantee to put young people back to work, offering people a guaranteed job they have to take or face losing benefits, which would ensure our community gets the support it needs.”
