David Hanson MP will tomorrow, Friday the 13th of March, meet with representatives from the Barlows Caravan Park as park of Wales tourism week to see the site and pledge his support for the caravan sector in Delyn.
As one of a number of events to promote Wales tourism week, Mr Hanson will visit the site tomorrow between 12:30-2pm to see in person the elements that have made the business a success, to listen the management’s plans for the future and to see the benefits available to the many tourists who travel to the site.
The Delyn MP will discuss with employees the issues the industry and site are facing, and about what more can be done to help encourage the industry which raises around £6 billion for the UK economy.
Across the UK, the caravan sector employs around 130,000 people and represents a UK manufacturing success story, with some 95 per cent of touring caravans in the UK made here.
In addition to the 550,000 touring caravans and more than 205,000 motorhomes in use across the UK, there are more than 330,000 caravan holiday homes – a total of over one million leisure accommodation vehicles. In the housing sector there are around 100,000 park homes (mobile homes) in use.
David Hanson MP said:
“Wales tourism week is a positive opportunity to celebrate the strong tourism industry we have here in Flintshire, so I’m pleased as part of that I’ve been able to visit the Barlows Caravan Park and learn about the good work they’re doing.
The caravan industry is an integral part of our local economy and I want to do all I can to support it to ensure it can deliver more jobs and opportunities for my constituents, so I hope the site continues to go from strength to strength.”
