I have been appointed as the new Shadow Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. This role will find me working with Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Hilary Benn MP. My new role will be wide ranging and include:
– Defence and International Security
– Counter Proliferation
– NATO and European Security
– The UN, international organisations, peacekeeping and the International Criminal Court
– Sub-Saharan Africa
– Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal
– The Falklands
– The Commonwealth
– Illegal Wildlife Trade
It is a great honour to be Shadow Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. The role will see me holding the government to account on how it conducts its business throughout the world.
I look forward to working with Hilary Benn MP, a principled man who has proved to be an excellent Shadow Secretary of State. I also would like to wish my successor in Shadow Immigration, Keir Starmer MP, all the best for the future.
