Delyn MP and former Policing Minister David Hanson has welcomed today’s crime figures that show a fall of eight per cent in crime in England and Wales over the last year.
The figures fall criminal damage down 17 per cent; burglaries down 8 per cent; and knife crime down 7 per cent. However, there have been rises in sexual offences.
David Hanson said:
“These figures show that when it came to fighting crime and giving our police the tools they need to do their job, Labour was making the right decisions.
“Whilst there was clearly more work that needed to be done, crime under Labour fell by over a third and there were record numbers of police and community support officers keeping our streets safe.
“I am concerned that yesterday’s cuts package will significantly reduce funding for North Wales Police. This will mean a reduction in the number of officers and the real prospect of a rise in crime.”
