Delyn MP David Hanson has raised his concerns in Parliament over Scottish Power’s decision to increase its gas tariffs by an average of 19 per cent from 1 August. Electricity will go up by 10 per cent from the same date.
David Hanson said:
“Scottish Power is the main supplier of fuel to people in Delyn and these proposed increases will affect thousands of people in Flintshire and around 120,000 across Wales.
“I spoke yesterday in Parliament on this issue and have asked the Energy Secretary what discussions he has been having with the company regarding fuel prices. This Government promised tough action a year ago, but have so far delivered nothing.
“We already know this Tory-led Government has cut Labour’s winter fuel top-up andpensioners in Delyn will lose up to £100 this winter.
“At a time when we are seeing a real squeeze on living standards more needs to be done to stop fuel companies pushing through these unacceptable price hikes.”
