This week saw the second evidence session of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Endangered Species.
We have been holding evidence sessions so that we can chose the best campaigns we can pursue to ensure that the Government takes positive steps to improve protection for endangered species.
During this evidence session we heard representations from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) who wanted us to help them campaign to end whaling in Iceland. Despite there being internationally agreed action to ban this despicable trade, there is still one whaler operating in Iceland.
We also heard from WWF. They were informing us of the plight of the Polar Bear and what action the UK Government could be taking.
Finally, we heard from World Animal Protection and their campaign to close the Cayman turtle farm. We were told of how Green Turtles are being bred and kept in terrible conditions for tourism and the meat trade.
The APPG will now meet and discuss which groups we want to help and bring to the attention of the Government.
